U.K. pop singer Lily Allen is headed for TV land.
First, she's getting a BBC show set to debut in 2008, called Lily and Friends, that lets her MySpace and Facebook "friends" vote and decide what show topics, celebrity guests and unsigned bands are featured on the show. Audience members from her online network will get bumped up to guest co-host from time to time, and have access to exclusive content. As of recent (as reported by several U.K. papers), she's also in chats to step aboard the TARDIS on the BBC's hit show Doctor Who.
The new season, scheduled to launch in 2008, could feature Ms. Allen as one of the doctor's traveling companions. With Kylie Minogue guest-starring in an upcoming holiday special with everyone's favorite time-traveling Brit, will this sudden influx of pop princesses dampen the " Not bad! Then again, she was speaking in Simlish, the imaginary language used in the game.
We'll keep our ears to the ground to see what unfolds. Lily's a spunky girl that could add some spice to the show -- let's just keep our fingers crossed that this doesn't turn the show into a celebreality mess. It's bad enough that diehard Who fans will have to savor each episode of the upcoming season, since the fifth round won't air until 2010.
